about
MUSIC AND LYRICS BY: John DiSciascio
This is an original song that I wrote for a very special friend of mine; Danielle Connor-Saulmon. (Ironically, a completely different Danielle than "Dani's Song", another track on this page) I wrote this for her as wedding gift and as a gift for her friendship which I deeply treasure. However, at the same time, I dedicate this song to every single person to whom I have the privilege of calling "My Friend" I am truly, truly blessed to have crossed paths with some of the most beautiful, inspiring people I could have ever imagined. The gift of friendship is priceless, but is truly the least I could give back in return for such a wonderful gift.
lyrics
"I tried to write down all my feelings on a single page.
To tell you what I think about you; I could go on for days.
With similes and metaphors, sweet allegories, puns galore.
Just clever words and not much more; and "Hey, that ain't my style."
I tried to pen a masterpiece, a vibrant work of art.
But I found; there's no better way, to say what I'm trying to say, then this simple phrase; a line right from my heart.
And so I just want to tell you, I just want to say: Thank You for Making Me Smile.
You know, I tried to think of a million different ways, to say it with a little more style
It's not clever, I know, I wish that I could write a poem, and brush it with the world's finest paint.
But I don't think there's any better way to say: Thank You for Making Me Smile
Then simply: Thank You for Making Me Smile.
Whoa.
If I could score a symphony, baby doll, I would.
But even if I had the talent, I don't know if I could bring myself to say so little, shrouded by the bells and whistles.
Now, what I'm saying sounds miniscule, but it sure means a lot.
You know, I'd love to pen a masterpiece, to show how great thou art.
But it's not quite as sincere, if you didn't hear the simple truth.
Who cares if it rhymes?
And so I just want to tell you, I just want to say: Thank You for Making Me Smile.
You know I tried to think of a million different ways, to say it with a little more style
It's not clever, I know, I wish that I could write a poem; a sonnet like William the Great.
But I don't think there's any better way to say: Thank You for Making Me Smile
Then simply: Thank You for Making Me Smile
(Instrumental Break)
Well, You make my heart all giddy, every time you're with me; I feel my cheeks start shifting To the Side. (To the Side)
And then my lips start grinning and my world starts spinning, cause you've got me Smiling Wide (Smiling Wide)
Oh, You make my heart all giddy, every time
(I just want to tell you, I just want to say)
you're with me; I feel my cheeks start shifting To the Side. (To the Side)
And then my lips start grinning and my world starts
(Thank You, Thank You, Oooh)
spinning, cause you've got me Smiling Wide (Smiling Wide)
And so I just want to tell you, I just want to say: Thank You for Making Me Smile.
You know I tried to think of a million different ways, to say it with a little more style
It's not clever, I know, I wish that I could write a poem, and brush it with the moon and stars and sky.
But I don't think there's any better way to say,
No, I'm quite sure that there's no better way to say: Thank You for Making Me Smile.
Then truly: Thank You For Making Me Smile
Thank You Love, you've made me smile.
Right now, right now."
