MUSIC AND LYRICS BY: John DiSciascio

About a year ago a wonderfully talented friend and I decided to write a musical together. We began meeting up weekly to discuss the plot and music and all sorts of ideas. Without getting into too much detail (it's still a work in progress) Our schedules became conflicting (mostly mine) and it became almost impossible to meet, even for a "New York Minute". During the time we shared together I finished writing one song completely for the show. Although, I still am hoping I find the time this year to meet up with him once again and finish what we've started (it's really a brilliant story he came up with!) I did not want to leave this song hanging behind, because I am really proud of it, and I think it's absolutely beautiful.

Now, I don't typically put any of my musical theatre pieces that I've written up here. But, again, I really felt the need to "finish" this song, just in case we are never able to meet up again and finish the show! So I decided to record it myself as a stand alone piece.

This song is written for a young tenor (so pardon my baritone! haha). This is also a style of music I've never really experiemented in writing before this piece and the style is very parallel to the style and time period of the story. I'm not really sure what you would classify this as, but is has heavy elements of both Classical stylings and Pop-Rock sounds; a "Baroque-Pop" if you will! haha)

This is probably the only piece of music on this page that is based almost purely in the context of a show. Though it touches on an experience every single human being can relate to! Without giving away too much detail (again I have HIGH HOPES of finishing this musical, so I still the want the plot to be very much a suprise) This is basically about searching for mutual attraction and being absolutely stunned when you come to find that the person you've been hoping (or never thinking) would find an interest in you actually does, and sees something in you worth much more than a simple look your way, thus the mutual attraction then being confirmed by that lovely "Double Take" Simply known as "A Second Glance"

Enjoy,
All of My Love,
John

lyrics

Lovely doesn’t quite describe the boundless beauty in your eyes.
My God, they should invent a better word.
For I can’t delineate the hue, I’ve never seen two eyes so blue.
Could this be what they call a perfect view?

For, I’m always looking, for someone to look at me.
I’m always searching; hoping they’d see what I’d see.
Sometimes the eyes meet; and I feel the rush.
But then they pass me by, before I even get a chance to blush.

That’s why it’s so unexpected, to turn and see.

Because when our eyes met, I braced for upset, cause your beauty is unmatched by my design.
But then you looked into my eyes.
And much to my surprise, you looked a second time; you gave my heart a chance, when you gave me A Second Glance.

I never thought my heart could melt from just A Second Glance.
I fell right through the floor the second that I saw.
That you had turned and looked again, when I had thought the dreamed had ended, little did I know it just began.

For at first it seemed that you looked past me, so I turned to see if someone was behind.
And I saw no one standing there; it was just you, me, and the summer air.
Then I turned back to see, that you were looking right at me.
Yes, you gave me A Second Glance.

And then you smiled, which sent my heart and soul ten million miles away from all the empty streets, all traces of reality; to visions of a life I never knew.
For then I quickly thought, to me: How perfect of a life we’d lead, if you could be with me and I with you.

Yes, a chance to live a future I have never known.
A chance to live with someone by my side seems imminently nearing every time I turn, and see you somehow still appearing to be infinitely peering in my eyes, I could just die.

All Because I noticed you, and you noticed me, and you noticed that I noticed you were noticing and it sent shivers down my spine and for once I didn’t mind having the chills; I feel them still.

Since you gave me A Second Glance.
Maybe this time, I’ll get my chance.
